Delinquency Prevention and Diversion Services Task Force

The Delinquency Prevention and Diversion Services Task Force was established by House Bill 1221 to convene an array of stakeholders to conduct an assessment and evaluation of current delinquency prevention and diversion services in Maryland, to identify best practices that will better serve Maryland youth, and to prepare a report to the Governor and General Assembly that will recommend delinquency and prevention program improvements and funding guidelines.

The Task Force is co-chaired by Delegate Ana Sol Gutierrez (D - Montgomery County) and Delegate Doyle Niemann (D - Prince George's County.) The final report is due to the Governor and the General Assembly on September 1, 2008.

The Task Force will be meeting through the next several months to complete the evaluation of prevention and diversion services and to develop final recommendations for service improvements. The meetings will be held in Annapolis and are open to the public. Notice of the meetings will be posted prior to the meeting on the DJS website. The agendas, minutes and presentations for each meeting can be found below under the Meetings link.

For further information contact Lauren Gordon, DJS staff assigned to support the Task Force, at 410-230-3346 or gordonl@djs.state.md.us.
