On June 10th. Principal Andy Hubner met with Major
Gary Burnett, Ranger Robert Cantin, and Ranger Patrick
Bright to discuss how the young men at the CYF School
can assist DNR with maintaining park properties and
assist with environmental projects. The partnership
will officially begin the week of June 16th. The partnership
will start with the following projects: youth repairing
picnic tables, building planter boxes, repairing signage,
growing trees for reforestation, and designing landscapes
plans for exhibitions of native species. All projects
are integrated into the school day and will be managed
by staff from the building trades, horticulture and
graphic arts programs.
Future goals include youth teams working at the park
clearing trails, installing walk ways, signs and planter
boxes, as well as planting tress for reforestation.
CYF School also offered to print all of the DNR summer
program shirts, as well as produce flyers and other
print material through the graphic arts program.
