On October 30th, DJS co-sponsored the first DJS/DHR Bi-Annual Provider Forum at Martin's West in Baltimore County. Approximately 500 people were in attendance. The Forum served as a pathway to allow DJS, DHR, and GOC to share information in a collaborative manner with our Direct Care service providers. Secretary DeVore, Secretary Donald, and Interim Executive Director Greg Shupe welcomed the entire group by sharing their vision for a partnership with our providers to help improve the outcomes for our youth and families. They also participated in a Question and Answer session.
DJS was able to share information with our providers about new legislation, ideas to increase MBE participation, the StateStat process, the implementation of Regionalization, Innovations Institute's role in the expansion of evidence based services and providing technical assistance to create a MD model EBS, and transitioning youth from placement to the public school system. The next Provider Forum will be held in April 2009. Watch for the Save-the -Date flyers in February.
